Gov's Cup: You Don't Have Any Excuse Not To Perform, Ndanusa Tells Players

The president of the Nigeria Tennis Federation (NTF), Engr. Sani Ndanusa, has told Nigerian players that they do not have any reason not to come out flying at this year's Governor's Cup Lagos Tennis Championship.

The former president of the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC), made this disclosure during a press briefing to herald this year's Futures 3 & 4 at the Lagos Lawn Tennis Club (LLTC), Onikan, Lagos.

According to Ndanusa, the Nigerian stars, like their foreign counterparts, have a whole year to prepare for the tournament, and that should be enough time for any serious player to prepare for a major competition of this magnitude.

"The NCC League has also helped them fitness-wise. The fact that they have matches almost all year round makes it a little bit easier for them. Therefore, I expect them to perform exceedingly well during the tournament," he said.

He therefore charged the tournament director and the sponsors to ensure they sponsor any Nigerian player who makes it to at least the quarter final stage of the competition on a tour of African and European circuits.

This, he said, "will spur their colleagues to action and make all of them better in no distant future."

The ITF-rated tournament will commence with the qualifiers on Saturday and Sunday 5 and 6 December, before the main tournament which commences on Monday, 7 December, 2015.
